Flatbush Tenant Coalition (FTC) leaders made GLOBAL history this weekend!

Together with MILLIONS of people across the country and across the world, FTC took to the streets of our nation’s capital this past Saturday (Jan. 21st, 2017), marching in solidarity to let the world and our new administration know that we will never stop fighting for women’s rights, human rights and social justice!

It was a long but incredible day filled with energy, power, and love! More than 50 of our tenant leaders and allies packed a bus to Washington D.C. at 5 a.m. to join a crowd of over HALF A MILLION people united in a commitment to fight for our freedom, our democracy and our basic human rights.
Our first hint of the unbelievable scale of the event came at a rest stop half-way to D.C. — all lots filled with buses, a thick sea of people streaming out in every direction.
And then a caravan of hundreds of buses alongside ours on the highway, all full of marchers, all heading in the same direction towards Washington, D.C.
We met people from every corner of the country and dozens of countries across the world. And our collective message was LOUD & CLEAR – we will not let our democracy be taken from us.
We will fight for women, for people of color, immigrants, Muslims, the disabled, and the LGBTQ community. We will fight for every human being. We are the Beloved Community and we will fight for US!
See more photos of our incredible journey on our Facebook page. Check out this Vox article with photos and quotes from our Coalition leaders. And feel the magnitude of the day (and the days to come), with these numbers from across the world:
- Over 1 million marchers in Washington, D.C.
- More than 650 ‘Sister Marches’ around the world with
- An estimated nearly 5 million marchers worldwide!
WE WILL NOT LIE DOWN. WE WILL STAND TALL. WE WILL ORGANIZE. WE WILL BUILD SOLIDARITY ACROSS DIFFERENCES. WE WILL RESIST!!
